You know what keeps us motivated? You! We love what we do and the best part is to see your smiles when you see the final result of a unique concrete project- whether it's a pool deck, concrete pour, interior floor, or custom concrete design. To celebrate some of our favorite jobs and highlight YOUR feedback we're starting a new blog series, Motivation Mondays- because your satisfaction is our motivation.
Imitation wood flooring, ceramic tile, or carpet are the most common types of flooring used in homes or office spaces, but a new trend is rising. Concrete staining has become one of the more popular alternatives for interior flooring. With this process the concrete actually absorbs the colors in the top layer of concrete giving a vivid translucent effect that is quite distinct from other decorative concrete surfaces.
In terms of maintenance and upkeep for your stained concrete floor basic dusting and mopping is only suggested. With one or more coats of sealer added to prolong life and add shine, you simply need to clean the surface with a dry towel/mop for dust and wet mop occasionally with basic soap and water. The durability and ease of use with these surfaces is visible in large businesses and buildings where traffic is heavy, such as Walmart and Costco.
For colors we prefer using Sherwin Williams H&C colors for our staining jobs. Here's a link to the Sherwin Williams Contractors Catalog which shows the various colors offered on page 166. You can also view the details of the products, including safety specs, and more on their website here at sherwin-williams.com.
With your new concrete stained floor there's no regular frequent maintenance required. We suggest another coat of sealer added in 5 or more years only if you prefer the high shine that is given off when first completed.
With the ease of use, unique look, and low maintenance, there's no wonder why this type of flooring has become so popular.

Old concrete cracks may be unsightly, but we can turn it around with our overlay!
Cracks in concrete can be a common occurrence.
Cracking can be the result of one or a combination of factors such as drying shrinkage, thermal contraction, restraint (external or internal) to shortening, subgrade settlement, and applied loads. Cracks can be unsightly but don’t necessarily mean that a product has failed.
We like to incorporate cracks into a design to make your driveway, pool deck, porch, or patio look brand new!
Below you'll see successful utilization of our Cracked Concrete Solution. Got cracks in your concrete? Don't remove your concrete when you've got cracks in it. Let's recover it!

Kool Deck patented material is great for pool decks and any surface that doesn't get as hot as regular concrete especially with the record highs we've been having lately in the South Carolina area. Kool Deck® concrete topping was invented by Mortex over 40 years ago. It is a beautiful surface for swimming pool decks, walkways, patios and virtually any foot traffic area. Once applied, it generates a colored, textured cement surface that is as strong as the base concrete. Benefits include:
Tired of your boring pool deck? Resurfacing can spice up your old pool deck without the hassle of tearing out the old concrete and pouring new. Resurfacing your pool deck can help you add color or create the look of natural stone, the possibilities are endless.
If you have an existing concrete pool deck but want to spruce it up or get rid of the boring old gray look, there is an easy option: cover it with a concrete overlay. These versatile resurfacing products can be sprayed on or trowel applied to most sound concrete surfaces to add color, texture and slip resistance. Some systems can also be stamped or stenciled, allowing you to achieve the same patterns possible with newly placed stamped or stenciled concrete.
Many of today's overlay products blend polymer resins with cement, sand and other additives to improve performance, slip resistance, aesthetic qualities and bonding to existing concrete. Many systems also resist damage from salt, pool chemicals, UV exposure, freeze-thaw conditions and abrasion. Some products are formulated to dry super-fast, making it possible to a give a worn, lackluster pool deck a decorative makeover in as little as a day.
